2018 FESTIVAL PLANNING ON THE GO!

This year’s IIFF in Harare will run from the 24th to the 31st of August. The festival will run at it’s traditional August dates under the fresh theme of “Reaching Out”.

The IIFF team has released the dates and details of the 2018 edition of the International Images Film Festival For Women, the only regular women’s film festival south of the Sahara.

This year’s IIFF in Harare will run from the 24th to the 31st of August. The festival will run at it’s traditional August dates under the fresh theme of “Reaching Out”. Film submissions are open until June 15th this year.
This year again we have rolled up our sleeves early to start preparing for the 17th edition of the festival. We will once more showcase an exciting line-up of films, film-related events, receptions and discussion fora, the raffle draws with 'cool' prizes and provide a chance to meet some of the big and small stars of the screens.

With this year’s theme, we are re-engaging with communities, membership and partners in a new way. We also aim to extend our reach even further as we step into the future. We want to reach out to the women in the film industry to connect with us and rally with us in using film as a tool for social transformation, and reach out to the women in our society, encouraging them to be active, displaying agency and impacting positively on their own lives and communities.

Recent developments concerning women in the film industry and in the age of #MeToo show how  important it is that women filmmakers in Zimbabwe have their own platform and their own space. Over the years, IIFF has become such a platform. WFOZ is determined to continue with this platform to amplify the voices of women filmmakers in Zimbabwe and the region and continent as a whole.

Festival Preparations

Determined to make this year's festival even better than before, the organising team is working on a strategy that emerged from successes and challenges of last year's joint film festival. New ideas are being incorporated and the older concepts are being reworked, so stay tuned for an exiting festival in 2018!
